More than 91% of employers prefer to hire candidates with internship or other work experience. UWM students get connected to internship opportunities through career fairs, faculty with professional connections, and SET Career Community Leaders. Many internships are paid and can be done year-round instead of just in the summer.

Earn Credit and a Paycheck
The Center for Student Experience and Talent (SET) believes all internships should be paid. Research shows that when internships are paid there are better outcomes for students and the organizations they work with.
Paid internships are an issue of access and equity, because not all students can do unpaid internships. UWM students are encouraged to reach out to SET or meet with a career advisor to see if together we can find a paid opportunity that is right for you.
