Soukhaphon, Chutharat

Success Coach

Originally from northeastern Thailand, Chutharat Soukhaphon has now made her home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for the past six years. Prior to joining UW-Milwaukee’s Southeast Asian American Student Center as a Multicultural Student Success Coordinator, she served as a Community Health Worker for the Milwaukee Consortium for Hmong Health where she was responsible for health outreach activities and education. In Thailand, she worked as a Program Coordinator for the Master’s Degree in Human Rights (International Program) in the Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies at Mahidol University. She also spent time as a Research Assistant on a joint project with the Center for Security Studies in partnership with the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and the Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies at Mahidol University. She assisted with conducting interviews with participants and organizing dialogue events aimed at promoting peace in Thailand’s politically unstable southern border provinces. She brings a unique background in having worked in both community and academic spaces in the US and in Thailand.

Chutharat obtained a BA in Business English (First Class Honors) from Khon Kaen University in Thailand. She is interested in learning more about the Southeast Asian and other communities in Milwaukee and continuing her peace-building work through diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives on campus and in the city of Milwaukee. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling with her husband and taking care of her growing collection of house plants.
