The University Community Orchestra welcomes musicians (ages 15 and older) who enjoy playing orchestral instruments and have some prior playing experience. The ensemble is open to string, woodwind, brass and percussion players — including violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, horn, trombone, tuba and percussion — who are comfortable reading music and interested in performing orchestral repertoire in a collaborative and engaging musical environment. The orchestra performs a wide range of classical symphonic and light pop movie repertoire.
The Orchestra is under the direction of Dr. Jun Kim, Director or Orchestral Activities at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, and members of the conducting staff. Rehearsals and performances provide an opportunity for community musicians, students, educators and experienced players to collaborate in a rewarding orchestral setting.
Please contact, University Community Orchestra at uco@uwm.edu with any questions.
Instrument selection is required at the time of registration. Participants must be registered prior to the start of rehearsals; no walk-ins will be permitted. Enrollment is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and once sections are filled, additional registrants will be placed on a waiting list.
Please bring your instrument to the first rehearsal.
