CSD Mission & Vision

Mission

The mission of the UWM CSD program is to educate and train future clinicians and to engage in impactful research to improve the lives of people in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and nationwide by enabling them to meet their swallowing and unique communication needs, including voice, speech, language, cognition, hearing, and augmentative and alternative communication needs.  

We serve students through comprehensive education and clients through evidence-based, interprofessional, person-centered clinical services. We train the next generation of clinicians and leaders who are life-long learners, resilient and resourceful advocates for their profession, clients and themselves. We strive to provide equitable access to education, culturally responsive clinical services within our community and conduct research that reflects the breadth and diversity of clients we serve

Vision

Educating leaders in clinical practice who become members of a vibrant, diverse community of clinicians, community partners, and scholars, supporting each other, being strong advocates for, and making a difference in the lives of people with communication and swallowing needs.
