Who can get a Panther Card?

To be eligible for a Panther Card, you must fall into one of the following categories:

  • Currently enrolled as a student or registered as an auditor
  • Currently employed as UWM faculty or staff

What do I need to get a Panther Card?

You’ll need to present a valid form of photo identification, such as a state-issued driver’s license or ID card, passport, or military ID, in order to receive your Panther Card.

How much does a Panther Card cost?

New Cards

All students are responsible for the cost of their first Panther Card, though the way it is paid may vary. For some, the fee may be included in a New Student, Transfer Student, or special program fee. Faculty and staff receive their first Panther Card at no cost. If a card needs to be replaced, a fee will be charged for everyone.

Replacement card fee will be waived for:

  • A name change that is requested through the Registrar’s Office
  • Change in University Status (Ex: Student to Staff)
  • Defective Card
  • Turning in a copy of your police report for stolen ID
  • Outdated Panther Card without an RFID chip

When do I get my Panther Card?

Undergraduate

Submit your photo online, then visit the UWM Panther Card Office.

Graduate Students

Submit your photo online, then visit the UWM PantherCard Office.

2nd Degree, Auditors, Non-Degree, Doctoral, ESL and Reentry Students

Submit your photo online, then visit the UWM Panther Card Office. You do not need a new card if you already have a Panther ID Card.

Online and UW Flexible Option Degree

Submit your photo online, then place your Panther Card order. Cards are mailed through the U.S. Postal Service, and a $20 fee will be charged to your PAWS account.

International Undergraduate Students

Submit your photo online, then visit the UWM Panther Card Office.

International Graduate Students

Submit your photo online, then visit the UWM PantherCard Office.

Faculty and Staff

Be prepared by submitting your photo ahead of time. Then visit the UWM Panther Card Office in person OR order your card online have it mailed to you. UWM will pay for your first card.

Replacement Cards

Be prepared by submitting your photo ahead of time. Then visit the UWM Panther Card Office in person OR order your card online have it mailed to you. The UWM Panther Card Office does not mail replacement cards to the UWM Residence Halls.

I lost my Panther Card

Turn Off Your Card

For your protection and the protection of others, when your card disappears, immediately turn your card off.

Turned in Cards

If your lost card was turned into the UWM Panther Card Office an email will be sent to your UWM Email Address with further instructions.

Replacement Cards

Replacement Panther Cards can be requested either in person or online. Please note that a fee applies to all replacement cards.
