UWM School of Nursing students value membership in student organizations as it is often an important factor in the success and enjoyment of the college experience.

Participation in student organizations offers you opportunities for fellowship, leadership, recreation, and meaningful interaction with faculty, staff, and students. The good friends and times encountered through being actively involved on campus can help transform what is sometimes a large and overwhelming institution into a place you can call “home.” There are a variety of organizations to choose from.

Undergraduate Student Organizations

Nursing Student Association (NSA)

The Nursing Student Association in the College of Nursing is a student run organization and a chapter of the National Student Nurses Association (NSNA).

The Nursing Student Association is regularly involved with:

  • Mentoring
  • Blood drive sponsorships
  • Representing students at state and local associations
  • Selling donated scrubs and spirit wear for fundraising

Student Nurses Association Parkside (SNAP)

Student Nurses Association Parkside is a local chapter of the National Student Nurses Association (NSNA) and the Wisconsin Student Nurses Association (WSNA). SNAP members foster professionalism, improve nursing education, build cohesiveness, and positively influence the health and well-being of those on campus, in our community, and globally.

All UW-Parkside students are welcome to join SNAP!

Graduate Student Organization

Doctoral Student Nurses Organization (DSNO)

As doctoral students, we know you need to have collegial support systems to sustain us in our academic progress. The Doctoral Student Nurse Organization (DSNO) organizes monthly workshops and luncheons to assist you in building those connections with your peers while learning more about the world of academia. In the past, we have sponsored events on writing for publication, understanding doctoral progression markers, and narrowing research topics.
