Biographical Sketch

Hello! I'm Maria Gleason-Maddox (she/her/hers), academic advisor for first-year students in the College of Letters & Science and proud Panther alumna. After completing my undergraduate degree at UWM, I attended Middlebury Institute of International Studies and earned my master's degree in International Education Management. In Spring 2024, I completed an additional master's degree in Spanish Language & Literature at UWM. In my role as an advisor, I draw on my personal experiences as a first-generation college student navigating the opportunities at UWM as well as my experience as a high school educator and mentor to students in the local Milwaukee area. My goal is to assist students in their transition to higher education and prepare them for a successful college experience by helping students explore academic and professional opportunities, connect with various resources, and understand degree requirements and policies. I had a transformative experience here on campus, and I hope that you do too! I look forward to working with you!
