JáSean Found It Easy to Build His Community at UWM

Pre-law student JáSean grew up in Chicago and transferred to UWM excited to make new friends in a new city. He says UWM provided the perfect location and community to do both. He quickly tapped into several of UWM’s nearly 300 student organizations, where he served in leadership roles and took advantage of many ways to get involved.

“UWM’s location is great because it’s in the city and nothing is too far from campus,” JáSean says. “My favorite memory is being a brand ambassador. Being in different photo shoots and representing UWM with other students helped me make friends that I never thought I was going to meet.”

JáSean, a sociology major, often spent time and got advice in UWM’s Black Student Cultural Center. As a Navy Reserve member, he also found support in UWM’s Military and Veterans Resource Center.
