Freshwater Sciences Colluquium – Flavobacterium Fish Pathogens: Motility, Protein Secretion, and Virulence
March 6, 2023 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm
FreePresented by Mark McBride, Distinguished Professor of Biological Sciences.
McBride is a molecular microbiologist who studies how bacteria move and how they secrete proteins. Recent research in his lab focuses on Flavobacterium fish pathogens that cause disease outbreaks in the wild and in aquaculture settings. Protein secretion, and active movement of Flavobacterium cells, both contribute to disease. The identities of the secreted proteins that allow flavobacteria to cause disease are being explored in an attempt to understand and control these deadly fish pathogens.
