About The Program
Students admitted to the Accelerated Master of Science in Information Science and Technology (MSIST) Degree Program begin their master’s degree course work in their senior year and take six graduate credits as part of the BSIST degree requirement. The Accelerated MSIST allows students to shorten their MSIST degree to 30 credits while starting the program as an undergraduate, paying undergraduate tuition for those first 6 credits. It allows students to complete both degrees in less time at a reduced cost.
Eligibility Criteria
- Currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Information Science & Technology
- 2.75 cumulative GPA or higher
- Must be in progress to complete 105 bachelor’s credits prior to the first term as a graduate student.
How to Get Started
Complete the IST Accelerated Master’s Degree Interest Form (see below). Students may declare their intent for the accelerated program as incoming freshmen, continuing UWM students, or transfer students.
Schedule a meeting with your undergraduate advisor to determine your eligibility in the accelerated program and to discuss coursework and timeline.
After consultation with your advisor, you will register for two graduate-level courses (six credits) when you have reached senior status within your BS program. Note: To earn graduate credit for these courses, you must register in the graduate section of the course and meet all graduate-level and grade requirements for the course.
At the beginning of your last undergraduate semester, you will formally apply to the Graduate School. Apply by September 1 to begin in Spring or April 1 for Fall.
