Financial Support for Graduate Students

Financial support for graduate students falls generally into five categories:

  • Teaching assistantships – students receive benefits in exchange for teaching introductory coursework such as a salary, stipend or tuition remission.
  • Fellowships from the UWM Graduate School
  • Fellowships from external sources
  • Scholarships and awards from the History Department
  • Travel research grants from the History Department
