About the Project

Its goal is to create resources that can strengthen community capacity to care for their environment. It is also a community organizing tool to promote engagement with on-the ground projects and build more effective partnerships among stakeholders.

We want to add Milwaukee to the growing STEW-MAP network!

In collaboration and guidance with the USDA Forest Service Northern Research Station STEW-MAP researchers, STEW-MAP is coming to Milwaukee!

This project is part of the dissertation work of Dulmini Jayawardana, a PhD student in the Department of Geography at UWM.

We aim to create a searchable map and publicly- available database of civic groups and other organizations taking care of Milwaukee’s environment. Together, we can help potential volunteers, public agencies, funders, and other stewards learn about your group’s work. In turn, you will be able to learn about other groups doing stewardship work in Milwaukee.

Get on the Map!

We will then add you to the map and you will receive research updates about how your group relates to environmental stewardship networks in Milwaukee.
