Dr. Ashley N. Schmidt joins UW-Milwaukee as an assistant professor of K-9 Mathematics Education. Her research interests include educational policies pertaining to K-12 mathematics, mathematics standards and related components, and relations of policy and practice in the instructional improvement of mathematics education.

Dr. Schmidt has published articles for national journals and has presented at national, regional, and state conferences. She currently serves as a member of the conference committee for the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (AMTE).

Dr. Schmidt earned her PhD in Mathematics Education from the University of Central Florida, Masters of Education (MEd) in Elementary Mathematics Education with a minor in Middle Grades Mathematics Education from East Carolina University, and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Elementary Education from The University of North Carolina Wilmington. She also has numerous years of teaching experience in public schools as both an elementary and middle school teacher of mathematics.
