Brittany Polacek

    Brittany Polacek is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Counseling Psychology program in the Department of Educational Psychology. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a board-certified counselor by The National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC).

    Brittany’s experience in the mental health field has been diverse; she has worked in a variety of settings including non-profit, vocational rehabilitation and private practice. Her experience has taken place in multiple levels of care including outpatient, intensive outpatient (IOP), partial hospitalization (PHP) and residential. Brittany currently serves clients in a private practice setting. The areas of her clinical focus are primarily: parenting, family dysfunction, burnout, perfectionism and body-image development.

    Beyond her clinical practice, Brittany has found fulfillment in coordinating education and training opportunities for counseling professionals. Brittany provides clinical supervision for practicum and internship students. As a Clinical Supervisor, she encourages trainees to be self-reflective and self-compassionate. Brittany believes experiential learning and encouraging supervision are key to adequate professional development for counseling students.
