She earned her B.S. in Biological Sciences from Drexel University, M.A. in Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University, and Ph.D. in Clinical and Counseling Psychology from the University of South Alabama. Clinically, Dr. Basu approaches her work through a holistic, biopsychosocial lens, integrating cognitive-behavioral approaches within a social-ecological systems framework. She has experience working in university, medical, community, and private practice settings. Her current clinical work consists of providing psychological testing for children, adolescents, and adults, as well as brief psychotherapy grounded in trauma-informed approaches.

Dr. Basu’s research focuses broadly on suicide prevention and is grounded in a commitment to community-engaged, interdisciplinary approaches. She is particularly interested in increasing access to mental health care among historically marginalized populations by examining barriers to care and supporting the implementation of culturally responsive interventions, both traditional and digital. Her clinical and research interests are united by a central goal: to advance equitable, person-centered models of psychological care.
