9.9.2015 | The Ferguson Conjuncture: Why the Humanities Matter Now

lipsitz
Featuring acclaimed author, scholar, and activist George Lipsitz of the
Department of Black Studies at the University of California-Santa Barbara.
His talk will focus on race, power, #BlackLivesMatter & humanities scholarship.

We value the Humanities because it is those disciplines that teach us to think and ask us to consider the world around us. Is our society fair? Do our actions promote justice? How does power and the perception of race impact how we speak, act, and think – especially after the death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, and the ensuing #BlackLivesMatter movement?

Please join us:
Wednesday, September 9
4:30 p.m

4th floor conference center of the Golda Meir Library (2311 East Hartford Avenue)

We’ll explore these questions with Geoge Lipsitz and find out how the Humanities can help us answer the tough questions.
