Mercyhealth

(Janesville)

About the Organization

Mercyhealth is a non-profit health care system based in Rockford, Illinois. It is a regional health care system with over 85 facilities serving a total of 55 communities throughout southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.  As part of its diversified, vertically integrated system, Mercyhealth operates over four core service areas: hospital-based services; clinic-based services; post-acute care and retail services; and a wholly owned and operated insurance company.

How Many Students Do They Accept?

Mercyhealth joined UW Milwaukee as a clinical affiliate in 2025.  They are expected to take 0-1 students for clinical rotations from the UW Milwaukee MLS program, if there is student interest in completing rotations in the Janesville area.

About the Site

Students that intend to complete rotations with Mercyhealth will be offered a tour at the Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center lab, which is located in Janesville, WI, and will complete interviews with the education coordinator.  If accepted, students are expected to complete their rotation at this hospital, but may be required to complete portions of the rotation at Mercyhealth locations in the surrounding area (near Janesville).  Because this is a new location as of 2025, specific details about the rotation are not yet confirmed, and this site will be updated as more information is known.

Additional Information to Consider

Travel to Mercyhealth Janesville takes approximately 85 minutes from the main UW Milwaukee campus, and may take additional time depending on weather.  Though not required, students placed at Mercyhealth may consider relocation west of Milwaukee to live closer to this site.
