This exam has three sections, one each of Thermodynamics, Quantum Mechanics and Dynamics. This exam would be appropriate for the end of a two-semester sequence of physical chemistry that covers all of these topics.

Topics include: (In Thermodynamics) Equations of state, laws of thermodynamics, state functions, mathematical relationships in thermodynamics, chemical and physical equilibrium, statistical mechanics. (In Dynamics) kinetic molecular theory, transport properties, rate laws, kinetic mechanisms, reaction dynamics. (In Quantum Mechanics) fundamental concepts and mathematical relationships, wave functions, eigenvalues and operators, particle in a box, harmonic oscillator, molecular orbital theory, symmetry and spectroscopy.
