The announcement below was shared with the UWM campus community on January 28, 2025:

I am pleased to announce that Valerie Harlynn has accepted the position of Communications Manager for the Provost’s Office and will start on Monday, February 3. In this role, Val will draft strategic communications coming from my office, as well as manage the Provost’s Office web presence. Val brings a wealth of experience to UWM; she comes to us from the Southeastern Iowa Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America where she was the director of communications. Prior to that, she was the development manager and summer camp director for the Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois.

Val holds an MA in Communications from the University of Dubuque, an MA in Religion from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary, and a BA in History and English Literature from Taylor University.

I want to thank the search committee, chaired by Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs Canan Bilen-Green, for service to the university and for producing a strong pool of candidates. I also extend my thanks to Human Resources staff member, Zoe Carballido, who has been instrumental in managing logistics throughout this search process.

With appreciation,

Andrew P. Daire, PhD
Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
