Dear Colleagues,
After an internal search and thorough evaluation of exceptional candidates, Interim Provost Freiburger and I are pleased to announce that Dr. Lisa Berger has been selected as Interim Dean of the College of Community Engagement and Professions (CCEP).
This important leadership role will serve as the chief executive and academic officer of the College of Community Engagement and Professions, providing leadership, stability, and oversight during a period of transition. Dr. Berger will begin her position on May 1, and I am eager to welcome her to the UWM leadership team.
Dr. Lisa Berger currently serves as Head of School and Associate Dean for Research in the College of Community Engagement and Professions. She has been affiliated with UWM since 1998 and is a Professor of Social Work. She previously served as Director of the Center for Urban Population Health, a partnership among Aurora Health Care/Aurora Research Institute, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She is also a UWM alumna.
I wish to thank the Search and Screen Committee for their service and thoughtful recommendations. I also extend my appreciation to Human Resources for their support throughout the search process.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Berger on this appointment. I look forward to her contributions as we continue to advance the College of Community Engagement and Professions and UWM.
With appreciation,
Andrew P. Daire, PhD
Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
