The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee celebrated its scholarship recipients and donors during the annual Scholarship Reception Nov. 12 in the Union Ballroom.

Chancellor Mark Mone spoke to the group, which included 300 donors and recipients along with families, friends, faculty and staff.

Mone stressed to the audience the increasingly important role of scholarships at UWM. More than 80 percent of UWM students receive some sort of financial aid and more than 4,100 students have been offered institutional scholarships for a total exceeding $9.5 million.
