Laboratory Assessment

The Examinations Institute has a newly designed assessment for student learning in the General Chemsitry laboratory.  This new exam is delivered via our new electronic delivery platform and allows the instructor to choose among six laboratory scenarios to build a test.

  • Stoichiometry
  • Volumetric Analysis
  • Calorimetry
  • Spectrophotometry
  • Identification of Acids and Bases
  • Kinetics

Because this exam uses electronic delivery the capacity to use features such as embedded video is built into these scenarios. There are also new item formats, like “drag and drop”, that take advantage of the capacity of web-delivered testing. It is possible to look at an example scenario about mesuring density for demonstration purposes. Copy and paste the URL below, or click here, to have a look.

Note: The Examinations Institute also has a limited stock of an assessment booklet for small-scale laboratory exercises in General Chemistry that was developed in 1994 by Bob Silberman from SUNY-Cortland. While this product is not being actively revised, remaining stock is available to those who are interested. Only hard copy remains available. The electronic files are not.
