Summary:

This segment includes day and night footage on the Milwaukee curfew ordered by Major Henry Maier and enforced by the National Guard because of riots, snipers and looting associated with demonstrations against segregation, unfair housing and police brutality. Footage covers interviews with the National Guard Major General J. A. Dunlop on the first night of the curfew on July 31, Maier announcing the curfew, aerials and ground footage of the National Guard and Red Cross hospital units mobilizing, their headquarters at Schuster’s warehouse, arrests of black citizens in the streets, police patrolling streets with billy clubs and rifles, and interviews with African American residents in Buckingham Ward about gun violence and hearing shots fired. Some footage is silent.
