Rouse Simmons, the Christmas Tree Ship – Epic Log

Summary:

Recounts the history of the Christmas Tree ship after the tragic death of the ship’s captain, Herman Schuenemann. It mentions how his widow continued the business, and trees were eventually delivered from northern Michigan to Chicago by railway. The segment concludes by noting tributes to Schuenemann and the Rouse Simmons around the Great Lakes in Michigan, Wisconsin and Illinois, after the wreckage was recovered.

This is the second of three reels on the Rouse Simmons and may be documentary material for “The Christmas Tree Ship” that first aired on Channel 4 in November 1975.
