Homecoming Parade for Captain James Lovell

Summary:

Homecoming parade for Captain James Lovell, his wife Marilyn and their three older children to Milwaukee. Mayor Maier and his wife, Mary Ann, escort the Lovell’s at the beginning of the parade that begins at 14th Street and Wisconsin Avenue. On a snowy day, it proceeds along the avenue with Captain Lovell waving from a bubble-top limousine. The homecoming parade was the first of several events that day in Milwaukee to welcome the Lovell family and to honor the astronaut’s accomplishments as a Wisconsin high school and college graduate. Lovell piloted the Gemini 7 mission on his first space flight with Command Pilot Colonel Frank Borman in December 1965. All footage is silent.

SR224 is one of three reels on Lovell’s return visit; also see SR225 and SR226.
