Teaching Assistantships

Women’s & Gender Studies offers two 33% graduate teaching assistantships. All applicants to our graduate degree programs are automatically considered for teaching assistantships. No special application form is needed.

Fellowships

The Graduate School currently offers two fellowships for full-time Master’s-level graduate study.

  • The Advanced Opportunity (AOP) Fellowship for new and continuing qualified UWM graduate students who are members of groups underrepresented in graduate study or who are otherwise disadvantaged. Applicants must be American citizens or permanent residents of the United States. The AOP is renewable.
  • The Distinguished Graduate Student Fellowship (DGSF) for new and continuing UWM graduate students. The DGSF is a one-year, non-renewable fellowship.

The deadline for submission for these fellowships is December 15. Please contact Professor Carolyn J. Eichner (eichner@uwm.edu), Women’s & Gender Studies Director of Graduate Studies, if you have questions. Follow the directions provided in each application form.

Scholarships & Awards

Women’s & Gender Studies also has a limited number of scholarships and awards for which graduate students are eligible. Scholarship decisions are made each spring. For more information, please see our Scholarships page or contact us directly at wgs@uwm.edu.
