Florence J. Healy Scholarship Winners

Women’s & Gender Studies is proud to announce the recipients of the Florence J. Healy Scholarship for 2019-2020.  This year’s pool of worthy candidates was difficult to narrow down, but the panel chose Jessica Coffey, a Master of Social Work student, Lucas de Smet, a junior majoring in Sociology and working toward an LGBT Certificate, and Tasha Berillo, a sophomore WGS major.

Ann and the late David Healy both taught at UWM for more than thirty years and they established the Florence J. Healy Scholarship, named for David’s mother.  Currently Ann, along with her son Matt, who tutored undergraduate math and science in the basement of Mitchell Hall, as well as his wife, Kim, are involved in the scholarship program.

WGS is deeply grateful to the Healy family for their generosity and willingness to help deserving students achieve their educational and career goals for more than twenty years and with more than $60,000 in support.
