Feminist Lecture Series 2016
Author poet Norma E. Cantú presents Healing the Wound: Reflections of a Chicana Feminist from the Border, a lecture for the Women’s and Gender Studies Feminist Lecture Series.

About the Speaker

Dr. Norma E. Cantú is Professor Emerita, University of Texas, San Antonio and Professor of Latina/o Studies and English, University of Missouri-Kansas City. Her areas of research and teaching interest include border studies, Latina/Latino literature, Chicana/Chicano literature, cultural studies, contemporary literary theory, folklore, and feminist studies. Dr. Cantú received a Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She received her M.S. degree and B.S. degree from Texas A&I University. In 2012, Dr. Cantú was inducted into the Texas Institute of Letters, and she received the prestigious Nebrija Creative Writing Award from the Instituto Franklin at the Universidad de Alcala de Henares in Spain. Dr. Cantú is also a Fellow of the American Folklore Society. In 2007, she founded the Society for the Study of Gloria Anzaldúa.
