Upper Limb Kinematics Analysis in Performing ADL

Engineering & Applied Science (College of) / Biomedical Engineering

Project Description

The primary objective of this research is to analyze human upper-limb kinematics and skin surface electromyogram (EMG) during activities of daily living. Using physiological signals, such as EMG or EEG signals, to control robotic devices for providing rehabilitation therapy is the leading technology of this modern era. These signals contain biological information of the user and directly reflect the user’s intention of moving. Healthy human individuals will participate in this study. A motion capture system will be integrated to analyze the movement of daily activities while EMG signals are simultaneously recorded.

Tasks and Responsibilites

The student will be responsible for:
1. Experimental set-up design
2. Prepare Study/Research Protocols for IRB review
3. Experiments
4. Programming
5. Investigate co-relation between EMG activity and Upper limb kinematics
6. Data Analysis
7. Papers (conference/Journals) and Poster writing
