Project Description
Study Objectives:
1. Explore the influence of online disinformation narratives in shaping emotional responses to authoritarian leaders, and how Zoomers in the Midwest frame their identity in relation to authoritarian ideals
2.Investigate how disinformation-driven authoritarian narratives create a sense of community among Zoomer young men in the Midwest. Explore how these narratives offer a sense of protection, security, or power, especially in the context of disillusionment with current political systems.
Methodology: Use AI-powered sentiment analysis tools to analyze social media posts and public comments. Track emotional engagement with themes like empowerment, anger, fear, nostalgia, and sadism. Report patterns in emotional engagement and how it correlates with strongman propaganda.
Tasks and Responsibilites
1. Collect and organize social media data (posts, comments, hashtags, etc.) related to authoritarian rhetoric, disinformation, and political discussions among Zoomer young men.
2. Use AI-powered sentiment analysis tools to analyze the emotional tone of social media posts. Categorize emotional reactions as positive, negative, or neutral based on the presence of keywords related to empowerment, violence, fear, nostalgia, and sadism.
