Python-based Workflow to Model Vadose Zone Flow and Transport

Project Description

The objectives of this research are as follows: 1) numerically model steady-state upward flow in the vadose zone and 2) numerically model transient downward flow in the vadose zone. The methodology of this research is to use open-source computer programming (Python) for pre- and post-processing and open-source numerical models (USGS) for computation.

Tasks and Responsibilites

The student will be tasked with the following: 1) writing accurate and efficient Python code for input files for USGS models and 2) writing accurate and efficient Python code for output files (visualization) for USGS models. The student will be responsible for delivering source code to the PI and presenting their results at a research symposium.
