Project Description

UWM’s Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) has a longstanding mission of public engagement, making Latin American studies scholarship available to multiple and diverse audiences beyond the university. The last two decades have seen increased scholarly attention to the value of public engagement: it strengthens our academic fields, supports new understandings of our shared world, and promotes action based on that understanding. This project follows established public engagement methods, providing scholarly media and programs adapted to the distinct needs of our multiple audiences.

Tasks and Responsibilites

Available student roles include: promoting upcoming events (graphic design, advertising); supporting event/program planning; writing short stories to highlight recent work done by our many campus and community partners; developing content for our social media and/or monthly newsletter; supporting communication with our audiences through maintenance of internal and external platforms (audience database, website).
