Project Description
This project intends to digitize and analyze the Harrison Forman Collection held at the American Geographic Society Library at UWM. As an American who travelled to China in the first half of the twentieth century, his photographs and diaries provide insights into both Chinese society and China-US relationship at the time. The objectives of the project, therefore, are to maximize the utility of this collection, conducting scholarly research on the collection, and present research findings to both the academic and the public. The methodologies include creating data, digital analysis, and visual representation.
Tasks and Responsibilites
1. Recognize Harrison Forman's handwriting and create data based on his diaries.
2. Use textual and computational skills to analyze the data.
3. Write reports on the data and if possible present the reports on or beyond campus.
