Tomás Hill

Tomás Hill is a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, majoring in Psychology, and is set to graduate in 2025. He is a McNair Scholar, a STAR Scholar, and a Kinship & Responsibility Scholar, actively engaged in research on mental health disparities and resilience within Native American communities. Tomás's senior thesis, "Developing Culturally Responsive Research Tools: Assessing the Feasibility of Semi-Structured Interview Guides for Native American Communities, " examines the cultural appropriateness and effectiveness of research methodologies in Indigenous contexts.

Tomás has presented his research at numerous conferences, including the National Conference on Undergraduate Research and the Midwestern Psychological Association's Ninety-Sixth Annual Meeting. His work has earned him travel awards, and he has contributed to multiple studies within the EQUITY Research Group under the direction of Dr. Gabriela Nagy.

After graduation, Tomás plans to pursue a PhD in Clinical/Counseling Psychology, focusing on cultural adaptations to psychosocial interventions for Native American populations. His ultimate goal is to return to the Oneida reservation, where he hopes to provide culturally competent mental health services and serve as a leader in his community.
