Letters & Science (College of) / World Languages & Cultures

Project Description

My undergraduate collaborator is assisting me with two projects related to my research. In the spring semester, I will continue to develop a monograph that analyzes the Korean language from the perspective of a high-context language. I completed the theory section by referencing relevant theoretical frameworks. Subsequently, I will employ this theory to analyze Korean grammatical elements and discourse data. Furthermore, I intend to compose an article regarding the utilization of Korean gender pronouns by English native speakers. I will investigate the variations in gender concepts between native languages and the ways in which culture affects the use of Korean gender pronouns by English speakers. In this study, I analyzed Korean essays written in English by English speakers. I will co-author the article with the undergraduate collaborator.
