Modeling Single-Well Injection-Drift Tests With MODFLOW and MT3D

Project Description

The objective of this research is to develop a workflow for exploratory and inverse modeling of single-well injection-drift tests.  The methodology of this research is to use existing open-source numerical flow and transport models, namely, MODFLOW and MT3D, for the special case of single-well injection-drift tests and share this methodology with practitioners and researchers in groundwater quality.

Tasks and Responsibilites

The student will be tasked with creating a workflow of input files for MODFLOW and MT3D as well as post-processing files for visualization that can be used by novice modelers to simulate flow and transport during a single-well injection-drift test. The student will be responsible for creating input files and post-processing files that are compatible with MODFLOW and MT3D.
