Project Description

The purpose of the “Crossing Borders” project is to research with educational communities to promote equity and fight racism towards immigrants in a post-pandemic world. The project seeks to identify and analyze both systemic and emergent post-pandemic inequities that impact the education of immigrants. This is an international research collaboration. The Wisconsin team will analyze the educational experiences of immigrants who are students of higher education in the state. The activities will be centered on reviewing and systematizing studies on the impact of COVID on higher education (literature review), and collecting institutional and governmental policies.

Tasks and Responsibilites

The undergraduate research assistant will meet periodically with the research mentor and other researchers connected with the Crossing Borders project to guide and report on the work. The actual research will involve the following tasks and responsibilities:
1) conducting a literature review by reviewing and systematizing studies on the impact of COVID on higher education;
2) collecting and analyzing institutional and governmental policies;
3) data collection.

If results warrant, the student researcher will write a conference proposal to share findings at local, regional, or national conference.

Desired Qualifications

Undergraduate students in education, humanities, or social sciences.
GPA 3.0 or above.
