Community Engagement & Professions (College of) / Education (School of) / Teaching & Learning

Project Description

The purpose of the ACCESS Culturally Responsive Resources Repository is to create an interactive, collaborative exchange resource for future and existing educators. For the past three years of this K12 school-university partnership, ACCESS has built a wealth of foundational and current resources. The student will work with Haley Elmendorf, another SURF student who started last term. The student will be in charge of creating a literature review about the ways teachers and pre-teachers look for and find culturally-responsive resources. The student will also assist in the coding and comparative analysis of the data we have collected from our survey and interviews, as well as the assembling of a journal article to share the results with others. Results of the survey and interview analysis will be used in two other aspects of the project on which the student will work the second set of objectives involve using the survey and interviews to help set search codes for the collection. A final objective for the student's SURF work will involve supporting the author permission form creation based on the survey and interview results. The student will also help contact authors for permission to share their work in the collection.

The undergraduate researcher will meet periodically (weekly or biweekly) with committees and other researchers connected with the ACCESS grant and the MLC Library to guide and report on the work. The student will also attend workshops provided by the SURF program, as they are able.
