Project Description
This project is about patterns of communication within long-distance and geographically separated couples (romantic and friendships). We want to know how often and in what ways partners communicate in these relationships. In particular, we are interested in how these relationships are maintained as well as the conflict patterns (i.e., what are the topics of conflicts, how are they managed). Data has already been collected using an online survey. With students' help, I plan to develop a series of projects on this topic that are born out of the survey data.
Tasks and Responsibilites
The student's primary task will be to help analyze and report findings from an online survey I conducted in a previous semester. The student will help with the quantitative analysis (running statistics and helping to interpret findings) as well as assist in coding qualitative data that was gathered. A graduate student has started to create a coding scheme for the latter, and the student will help confirm her scheme. The student will also help develop a series of studies that will emerge from this dataset.
