ParP and Pch Research

Letters & Science (College of) / Biological Sciences

Project Description

ParP and Pch: interactions and role in chemotaxis localization. The goal of this project is to contribute to our understanding of how partioning proteins affect the localization of chemotaxis systems to control flagellar based motility in Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Tasks and Responsibilites

The student will be responsible for the bacterial two hybrid assay, as well as designing and generating the fluorescent protein fusion constructs. This will require primer design, PCR, sequencing, ligations and transformations. Once the constructs have been generated, it will be required to create freezer stocks and update the lab strain collection. It is also necessary to learn SDS-PAGE and western blotting.
