Technology Integration and Engagement Services (TIES) partner with the UWM Help Desk to provide support services to departments in Student Affairs and Strategic Enrollment Management & Student Success.
UWM Help Desk Support
The UWM Help Desk assists with technology questions and issues regarding:
- Computers and printers
- Campus software like Microsoft 365, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.
- Password lockouts, resets, or other issues
- Teams phone hardware and calling queues
- Multi-factor authentication
- Campus Wifi
- and more
TIES Report an Issue/Problem
The staff in Technology Integration and Engagement Services (TIES) assists with technology questions and issues regarding specific software and hardware like:
- Laundry controllers in University Housing
- SHAW lab equipment, Medicat DUO token, and OmniDuress badges
- Networking in the UWM Student Union
- Cash registers and accessories
- Software specific to departments/units Strategic Enrollment Management & Student Success and Student Affairs.
After Hours Support
Services that operate regularly outside of normal business hours (7:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday) can use the After Hours Support Request form to request assistance from TIES staff for critical/timely issues. The items TIES staff support after hours are:
- Cash Registers and Accessories
- Security Cameras
- GuestPass
- Swiper Student ID Event Swiping
Technology staff may also provide support as needed for special events during non-bus

Here are some of the most common requests fulfilled by technology staff supporting your department or unit.
Technology Resources Access
Request access to technology resources for new or current employees within Strategic Enrollment Management & Student Success and Student Affairs. Resources include software and applications specific to your departments, access to departmental SharePoint sites, shared network printers, and more.
Websites
Request a new or update an existing website, webpage, web-based application, or online form.
Digital Display
Request to display information on the Bolton Hall digital displays.
Student Affairs Data
Request data and reporting. All requests are reviewed to verify they meet legitimate needs and that applicable rules, policies and procedures are followed. Making a request for student data does not imply it will be fulfilled.
Strategic Enrollment Management & Student Success Data
Staff within Strategic Enrollment Management & Student Success generally go to the UWM Data Hub to get aggregate data or to request a custom report.
Employee Termination
Terminate access to IT resources for an employee no longer working for your department.
Purchase Technology
All technology-related purchases go through the same standardized process, starting with submitting the purchase request form, to determine the best route for the purchase. More information on the IT purchasing process can be found on:

Technology Online Training
Courses are taught by instructors who work with the technologies on a regular basis. Courses are open to all UWM students, faculty, and staff. All online courses are recorded and viewable on-demand.
School of Continuing Education
The School of Continuing Education offers programs and courses in things like business analysis, coding, data analysis, and project management. There is a cost for this training which varies by course and program.

Technology Polices
Information Technology policies that focus the use and security of technology like acceptable use, authentication, data, management of assets, incidence response and mitigation, and other security-related items.
Board of Regents Policies
Policies from the Board of Regents (BOR) focus on acceptable use of technology resources, some information security, and strategic planning of Information Technology, and high risk Information Technology projects.
Universities of Wisconsin System Policies
The Universities of Wisconsin System Information Technology policies focus on topics like authentication, data, asset management, endpoint management, incidence response, risk, threat, and other security-related items.
