Compost Drum Ribbon Cutting – Tuesday, March 31st from 8AM-11AM at the Campus Orchard

  • Location: the Campus Orchards are located north of the Sandburg Residence Halls, along N. Maryland Avenue.
    • Approximate address: 3430 N. Maryland Avenue
  • Open House celebration from 8AM-11AM – drop by any time to meet the new Drum!
    • Ribbon Cutting at 8:30AM
    • Compost Demonstration Tours every half-hour from 8:30-10:30AM
  • Naming Competition! Vote for your favorite name for the compost drum!
  • We are grateful to the FEED MKE Project Pilot, part of the City of Milwaukee Environmental Collaboration Office, for providing the mini-grant for this compost expansion program at UW-Milwaukee!
  • Join the Office of Sustainability for a hot cup of tea in the Union Art Gallery.
  • As a new version of the Spiral Gardens takes shape on campus this year, we will look for ideas about how students and staff most want to engage with this important green infrastructure feature on campus (you have probably walked by it without even knowing – we want to change that!).

Spring Greening! – Saturday, April 18th at 9AM-12PM at the Heat Plant Spiral Gardens

  • Location: Heat Plant Spiral Gardens (behind Merrill Hall)
  • Time: 9AM-12PM
  • What: With the help of students and volunteers, the UWM Office of Sustainability clears out old growth in the spiral rain gardens on campus to make room for new native plants to grow. This year, we will also be doing some trash clean up and garden prep at some additional native gardens on campus, too!
