The Student Support Services Program (SSS) currently has funds available through the U.S. Department of Education, to provide grant awards to SSS students, who meet certain requirements. If you meet ALL the following requirements, then you will be asked to officially apply for the grant aid.
Academic Requirements:
- You received a passing grade in at least nine academic credits for the Fall Semester. (including 90 level Math courses but excluding Sport/Rec)
- You have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.20 at the beginning of the Spring Semester. (not semester/term)
- You are registered for at least nine academic credits. (including 90 level Math courses but excluding Sport/Rec)
- As of the beginning of the Spring Semester, you have earned less than 54 credits.
Financial Requirements:
- You are receiving Pell Grant as part of your Financial Aid Awards.
- You have either unmet need (financial aid not fully covering tuition)
- OR have taken out a loan, as part of your financial aid package for the academic year.
To apply you will need to:
- Write a statement (approx. 500 words). Discuss your long-term educational goals and explain how you would use this money to further your education at UWM, giving specific examples.
- Complete the College Budget Worksheet (PDF).
