Amy Narr

¡Hola! My name is Amy, and I’m excited to learn with you this semester.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management with a minor in Spanish for Business from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee (UWM), as well as a Master’s in Sustainable Peacebuilding, also from UWM. My work for the past decade has centered around supporting entrepreneurship and access to credit in Spanish-speaking communities in Milwaukee.

My passion for language and culture has been shaped by many international experiences. I studied abroad in both Costa Rica and Mexico, served in the Peace Corps in Peru, and have continued to travel widely throughout Latin America and beyond. While in Peru, I taught English and Business courses and developed strong Spanish skills—achieving Certified Advanced proficiency after my service. Still, I believe language learning is a lifelong journey, and there’s always more to explore.

Currently, I serve as a Business Consultant at the Wisconsin Small Business Development Center (SBDC), where I frequently support Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs. I also bring experience as a restaurant owner, and my love for cooking is deeply tied to my travels and cultural experiences.
In my free time, I enjoy practicing yoga, hiking with my dogs, cooking, and—of course—traveling. Some of my favorite ways to keep improving my Spanish are by listening to music or watching movies in Spanish.

I’m thrilled to be part of your learning journey and can’t wait for what this semester brings!
