Bio

Mary Ellen Griffin is a student in Design and Visual Communications at University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee Peck School of the Arts and supplements her graphic design classes with a B.A. from Marquette University, interior design studies and professional experience.

Her love for the creative arena has nourished two award recognition projects on the city and state levels and the completion of three juried show art pieces. Since one cannot live on design alone, she also has been known to cook a gourmet meal, or two, and introduces new foods into her diet that she discovers during her travels.

Grateful for the opportunity to study and play with design, Mary Ellen shares her expertise, most recently for Design Like Mad 2016 in Madison, an event supporting designers working with non-profit groups.

Most of Mary Ellen’s design work weaves into her personal and professional life and is a continuous addition to a lifestyle that is shared with others.

Description

This piece is an interactive accordion fold book that presents a design manifesto. It underscores a sense of organization and process in regard to building upon a solid foundation. By providing the viewer with a mix of graphics within both two-dimensional and three-dimensional planes, the manifesto invites a physical and mental connection within the space and between the viewer and visual element. The light and fresh colors provide playfulness to an otherwise weighty presence of the entire piece.
