Project Description

On August 5,2012 the shootings at the Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wis., left six dead and turned attention to the Sikh community, a religious group with a relatively small but growing population in the United States whose members are often mistakenly identified as Muslim. My project focuses on sikhism as a religion as well as some of its history and customs. There are roughly 300,000 sikhs currently living in America and more than 27 million living in the world. My project hopes to start a dialog and answer common questions about my religion such as why we wear a turban and the importance of our hair.

Research Question
