Bio

Erika Scherer is currently a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, working her way towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Design and Visual Communication

While at UW-Milwaukee, Erika interned at the Kohls Design It! Lab found inside Discovery World in Milwaukee. Here, she developed skills in serving the public, working with children, designing a hands-on project for families, and making poster designs for the public and employees of the museum. She currently works at the design output lab, where learning about print production and teaching beginning students about the essential Adobe programs is all part of her job. She has experience in T-shirt design, logo design, magazines, motion graphics, brochures, and web design. Some other skills she prides herself on are organization, empathy, time management, illustration, and hands-on crafting.

In her free time, she loves to work with animals, come up with new and exciting recipes, and design ideas for children’s books. After graduation in spring, she hopes to continue pursuing design in her career, whether that means staying in Wisconsin or travelling to a different part of the world.

Description

“Aways Wander” is a piece about my journey through life, at every place I have lived. Postcards have always fascinated me, because they always tell a story about the places people go, and their fleeting feelings at a certain point in time. These postcards each include a small note on them, handwritten by the people I know and love the most. Each note is advice I could have used from the most major parts of my life’s journey thus far.
