Bio

Chris is a 4th year student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee studying graphic design and printmaking. He has a passion for art, design, problem solving, and creativity. Chris refers to the graphic design experience as “business casual,” stating “I enjoy this phrase because I feel it is a general representation of what it means to be a graphic designer; there is much responsibility involved to meet the demands of a client, but the designer still has enough freedom to think creatively and poetically about the work they produce.” Throughout his work, Chris allows his graphic design and printmaking experiences to overlap in order to create more compelling projects. In his future, he plans to combine his dual interests in order to build a career in screen printing.

Description

This project is a two-part manifesto that describes my distinction between Design and Art making. I am a Designer by trade, but I am an Artist by passion. Design gives me the power to help others, Art gives me the power to help myself. I find it endlessly hilarious to be living in this duality because the fundamental values of both fields naturally contradict each other. However different they may be, I utilize the strengths of each to ensure my work is both encapsulating and self-fulfilling.
