What will it take to end campus sexual violence?
Rose Hennessy Garza, PhD, MPH
Visiting Assistant Professor
Zilber College of Public Health
A landmark study in 1987 revealed self-reported rates of campus sexual violence to be much higher than those reported in official crime statistics. Despite numerous efforts across the decades, sexual violence remains highly prevalent today, disproportionately and inequitably impacting students already marginalized by intersecting forms of oppression. This seminar is informed by research and practice to highlight what it will take to eradicate campus sexual violence in the United States. Primary challenges and solutions will be explored and will focus on policy approaches, training content and delivery, research and system infrastructure, and the commitment needed to create a campus environment where all students can thrive free from sexual violence.
Join us in a forum to hear the latest in the research and practice of public health to support a just, equitable, healthy future for people, communities, and the environment in Milwaukee, the state of Wisconsin, and beyond.
The seminar can also be attended virtually on Teams.
