Dr. Lance Weinhardt’s primary research focus is in developing effective primary and secondary HIV-prevention interventions that can be implemented widely in resource-poor settings. His work has been conducted in Milwaukee, South Africa, and Malawi. In a recent study, he is examining the effects of sustainable economic development programs on food security and health outcomes in sub Saharan Africa. Dr. Weinhardt’s wider interests include how social, economic, and behavioral approaches can be combined to increase resilience and reduce disease in resource-poor settings.
